Le Coq Sportif with the artiste & designer Mat & Jewski have designed an exclusive “toile de jouy” for the brand paying tribute to the Paris of his childhood with a great deal of humour. A series of different and unexpected scenes in front of well-known landmarks and monuments; two french poodles on heat exhibiting their ardour under the indiferent eyes of two smokers on a public bench…
And to illuminate the aptly-name “City of Lights”; just as his little sister coloured with magic markers a painting-by-numbers, so the artist has applied touches of fluo paint here and there giving the fabric an even more contemporary and extraordinary feel.

So both phosphorescent and fluorescent clothing are present in this collection for men and women; from the hooded zipped sweatshirt to the “Olympia” basketball shoes (launched by the brand in 2007) and including bags.. almost all of the collection is made in cotton molleton, except the tshirts in jersey.

Last September 25th we launched the collection at IguaPop Shop&Art gallery in Barcelona. Here is a little pictures review.

Remember the volume 1

Alors qu’une vague chaude se pose sur Paris et que les couchés de soleil ressemblent à ceux de L.A., nous vous présentons, non pas le dernier album de Lil’ Wayne, mais le première album de Remote sorti avant l’été sur un autre label duquel nous sommes proches: Kill The DJ monté en partie par Ivan Smagghe. Pour ce qui suivent vous avez pu remarquer que nous avions ajouté l’album de Remote il y a déjà plus d’une semaine.

L’artwork parle de lui même, ça sera minimal et compact mais plus dansant et plus chaud qu’il n’y parait.
Commencez par “(♬) Veron”, le morceau qui vous fera passer du fin fond du club à son dancefloor. Remote prend ces distances avec les turbines electros ambiantes dans lesquels beaucoup se font aspirer. Croyez-nous, nous reviendrons courant 2009 avec une explication très claire sur le sujet avec nos amis de Born To Film…oui oui c’est du teasing hyper obscure…plus d’info très bientôt.
C’est 10 titres avec beaucoup de style que le duo de Remote nous délivre, une minimale forcément moins germanique qu’outre Rhin et parfois plus proche de l’acid comme “(♬) Allow Steady” peut l’être.

Hercules And Love Affair will actually play at the Calvi On The Rocks festival this year !
Their 1st album that came out this spring is maybe one of the most exiting release appeared in the music field this year.

Pour les moins initiés, Cheveu peut vite être considéré comme un groupe complètement aliéné, pour les plus ouverts d’entre nous il sera plutôt vu comme un groupe innovant, à la recherche d’une vraie création artistique. La première écoute ne sera pas facile pour tout le monde mais, si nous creusons un peu et que nous investiguons un minimum, Cheveu fait écho à un style de musique, au Shoegazing plus précisément, mouvement garage-punk qui tente naturellement une prolifération entre la fin des 80’s et le milieu des 90’s mais, c’est le grunge et la pop british qui remportent la mise à ce moment-là et qui vrilleront les têtes des ados du monde entier.

Cheveu en concert c’est un mur de sons avec un « chanteur » qui regarde ses pompes (des Le Coq Sportif bien sûr…) et qui vocifère dans son micro des couches de paroles auxquelles il applique des reverbs lancinantes dans lesquelles nous nageons et nous nous noyons volontiers. Le guitariste, lui, planqué derrière ses lunettes noires y va lui aussi de ses effets, en envoyant des riffs distordus. Quant au batteur on ne le verra pas par qu’il y en a tout simplement pas…on a droit par contre à un mec derrière des machines et autres claviers qui se charge de balancer la rythmique. Une vraie expérience.

L’écoute de l’album sera sans doute plus claire pour vous.
Commençons par “(♬) Hot”, qui nous semble le meilleur compromis pour découvrir le groupe, avec une rythmique évidente couplée avec des couches saturées de synthé et une guitare distordue, le tout enveloppé d’une voix vaporeuse se répandant sur le morceau et flirtant avec la rythmique sans jamais l’embrasser.
On peut ensuite partir sur un “(♬) A great competitor”, le morceau peut être le plus énervé de l’album, enchaîner avec “(♬) Dog” dont on se passera de vous traduire les paroles car nous ne sommes pas sûrs de l’âge des lecteurs de LeCoqin.com…
Pour faire un parallèle avec un autre groupe que nous supportons et un autre morceau consacré à un personnage, là où Adam Kesher avait choisi de dédier l’un de leur track au philosophe Walter Benjamin mort tragiquement à la frontière espagnole poursuivit par les nazis (“(♬) And then our thoughts became old again”), Cheveu eux, choisissent de dédier l’un de leur morceau le plus suprenant de l’album,“(♬) Lola Langusta”. On ne pense pas se tromper en avançant qu’il s’agit là du seul morceau où des trompettes se manifestent d’un coup, comme sorties de nulle part et qui nous délivrent un éloge provocant à Lola Langusta, l’un des personnages sulfureux du film “Beneath the Valley of the UltraVixens”. Comme avec Frustration, il n’y aura pas de happy end car c’est avec “(♬) Unemployement Blues” où tous les instruments donnent l’impression de se relâcher, se distordent pour la fin de l’album pour exprimer certainement l’emmerdement et la déprime d’une énième journée de chômage d’où la voix veut certainement s’extirper.

Cheveu a sorti son album le 5 mai dernier, ils n’ont été invités à acune télés, ni aucune radios alors qu’il fait lui aussi certainement partie des meilleurs sorties rock de notre cher hexagone cette année. Méconnus en France pour l’instant, ils reviennent déjà de leur deuxième tournée Américaine où leur renommée est grandissante… On pourrait aller jusqu’à dire qu’outre-Atlantique, sur une certaine scène, on se les arrache et on nous les envie.
Cheveu vous y adhérez ou pas. Si vous n’y adhérez pas c’est que vous avez certainement survolé une première écoute de l’album et nous saurions que trop vous recommander de vous replonger dans l’album ! Si vous y avez adhéré dès les premières notes, vous devez certainement être, au moment où vous lisez cette phrase, un fan invétéré comme nous…
