They decided to cut to the grave. They have had plenty of grrreat times together but constant elation and unbridled tomfoolery can last only so long. Let’s have a mournful party. Let’s move from Mardi Gras to Ash Wednesday. It’s the most beautiful day of Carnival. Black and white from head to toe, forlorn-looking girls smiling shyly through streaming mascara, boys emboldened by the proximity of death. Impending doom makes love urgent. Everything that must happen happens. On Friday, March 14th, we’re drawing our last breath. Be there to die with us and be reborn in glory.
